This is a FAMOUS story in our industry. And while it is true that different appraisers will come up with different values - often varying by as much as 5% - this African American couple found their home worth 30% less. Until they paid for a different appraisal with the same firm after "white-washing" (down to getting rid of hair products traditionally used by African Americans) their home.
